Every phone sold by Backed Buy goes through the same defined testing and refurbishment process before it is approved for sale.
From checking the handset’s history and security status to testing its hardware, battery and everyday functions, our aim is simple: make sure every phone meets the Backed Buy standard before it reaches you.
Every handset goes through our comprehensive 90 point quality check.
We test the features and functions you rely on every day, including the display and touchscreen, cameras, speakers, microphones, charging ports, buttons, calling and SIM functionality, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, mobile connectivity, biometrics and other relevant functions.
We also inspect the handset for physical and liquid damage. If a phone doesn’t meet our standards, it isn’t approved for sale.
Before a handset can be sold, we check its IMEI status to make sure it hasn’t been reported lost, stolen, blocked or blacklisted.
We also check that the handset is free from account and security locks, such as Apple Activation Lock or the equivalent Android account protection.
Every Backed Buy phone is supplied network unlocked, ready to use with a compatible network and SIM.
Any previous customer data is securely erased as part of our refurbishment process.
The handset is prepared for its next owner without previous user accounts or personal data remaining on the device.
If a handset needs repair or a component needs replacing during the refurbishment process, we use original manufacturer parts.
Any required refurbishment work is completed before the phone moves on to the remaining checks and approval for sale.
Battery health is checked on every individual handset.
Every handset is individually inspected for its cosmetic condition before being assigned a grade.
We assess the screen, body, frame and housing to determine whether the phone meets our Premium or Excellent condition standard.

Before a handset is approved for sale, it goes through a final quality check.
This confirms that the required testing, refurbishment and grading process has been completed and that the phone meets the Backed Buy standard.
Once the handset has completed the required checks and meets the Backed Buy standard, it is approved for sale.
Every approved phone is supplied with a FREE 12 month warranty.
